A Little About
QUEST & RNS:
* What's the origin of your group name, QUEST & RNS?
QUEST AND RNS the name came from two individual groups QUEST was a solo artist that had the streets buzzing of his high tempo reggae-tech while RNS was a reggaeton - hip hop group from the same streets as QUEST. We both had a very nice street buzz so it was only right to link up, but we decided to keep our names (akas).
*How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
Well Both Rubio and SHORTI (RNS) are brother's by blood.
Quest and Shorti went to high school together in 2000 actually in the same home room class.
*When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
About two years ago...well we had collaborated a few times prior to forming the group the chemistry was amazing we actually preformed in various occasion together and it was just the right feeling...so ultimately we just had to do what was best for both and that was link up !
*What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
A little bit of everything from hip hop to techno , dance, bachata, merengue ect a little bit of every thing.....Influences Avventura Daddy Yankee 50 Cent ...
After 2 years of touring unsigned u effortlessly got picked up by super Indi KULT records, tell us about that?
It was by far one of the best feeling we have experienced knowing the fact that our hard work and effort finally caught the attention of a record label and not only being offered a contract but being the face of such an amazing NYC label in Kult records is a blessing to us shout out to Lilla!
*How did u manage to get gigs all over the US and Canada without a single song being released?
We basically started by some one giving us an opportunity then all of sudden we doing small gigs here and there, sooner then expected we created this buzz via internet and through street teams promotions. We always got a positive feed back from our gigs. Word got around and that's how we started to travel.
*Where have you performed so far? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?
All over the US from NYC, NJ Philly Boston Florida Arizona Chicago etc. We also toured in Canada Montreal Calgary Vancouver Quebec.....our favorite venue thus far is actually doing shows for our community we were grew up. You feel the pressure because they know you they know everything about you so you want to give them the best show possible even though is like that across the board. But home is special it just so right to be able to have a positive impact in your community it means the world to us.
You also got a clothing sponsorship from one of the biggest and hottest designers of the moment ED Hardy, again that happened to you without a single song being released. How did that happen?
The funny thing is we started actually wearing his clothing before getting sponsored. From shows to videos to house parties etc. It was Ed hardy here and Ed hardy there Ed hardy everywhere for us. They liked the fact we were promoting there clothing in really big venues so we linked up with Ed hardy it was a matter of time.
*Your first single slated to be released is entitled "More Liquor" and it's a big sounding Party Record! What was behind those inspirations?
Well we got the beat for More Liquor a few weeks before actually recording it as we recall we were in Quest's house drinking and he ran out of his drink......and yelled out please More Liquor lolz.... and we took off from there repeated it a few times and it was a go...
There is already talk that la mega has an eye on this KULT Records penned "More Liquor" thanks also to your Manager's hard work (jojo) is that true?
We hope it is.....J/K yea we got a lot of Dj's & promoters waiting on this track la mega is just the start of it.
*Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? Do you think these topics will change over time?
We write our own lyrics and melodies and work with various producers for the beats. Weather is Rubio writing the hook with a verse quest with the melody and flow or Shorti with the hypes and griminess we all play part in the concept we always thinking out the box with music.
The themes and topic really depends on the beat we have at hands we usually don't create the song then get the beat we usually work the opposite get the beat the write to it.....of course we do have songs written that needs music behind it but that's something that rarely happens. I think as time passes we just adjust to what's going on around us right now is up tempo house techno so we going to do house techno to the best of our ability there three minds behind this if Shorti gets stuck quest will help if quest gets stuck then Rubio will help rise versa.. So yea we all have to be open to the idea to change
*What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
I know practice is a very important element to the stage performance and to the timing of it but we going to be honest with our fans we usually don't practice is more a spontaneous kind of thing if its a really big venue for example we had one in Canada for an hour long so yea then we did practice but beside that it comes natural you have to be born with this...lol... When we do practice OMG is just going over the same thing over and over till it feels right but always an adrenalin rush because we don't know how not to be excited even if its for a practice.
*Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you have a set play list?
We usually do Baila Morena Dale Jockey She gets me high. Then we hit them over the head with a few surprises...but yea we have a set play list but we adjust to different situation if needed.....
*How has your music evolved since you first began making music together?
Just the simple fact that we know each other a lot better now and we have travel to more places witch has opened up our minds so it has evolved from just making music to making music that's actually going to get played in major air wave and people are more tuned in of course always having fun with it.
*What has been your biggest challenge as a group so far? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so how?
Our biggest challenge yet as a group, has been the timing of each individual to make sure we all on the same page. We have overcome that challenge just by having meeting staying together and speaking our mind constructive criticism within our self if one is falling behind in some what shape or form we there to tell him...
*What’s your ultimate direction for your band? Are you seeking fame and fortune?
Our direction is straight forward never look back, we just want our music to be felt and heard from the corner of this block to the heights of a mansion. We just want to share our music with the world. If fame and fortune comes with that ok if not so be it. We want to be looked at as a positive role for kids and make music that puts a smile on your face.
*What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands/group?
Just give it your all don't hold nothing back or don't let no one tell you that is impossible dictate your own future write your own story....
*How can fans-to-be gain access to your music?
Soon our debut single will be available digitally on all major online retailers including itunes target, sony connect, starbucks and all major retailers! As far as web site our label's site will have the load down.
*Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge?
Of course our fans family and friends there's to many to name. lol Mojo family, KULT Records, Lytez out and any one that had to do with us getting here negative or positive we love ya!!!!!
